Trademark registration in Russia.

Foreign applicants are required to file trademark applications in Russian through a Russian patent attorney.

The object of a trademark in Russia may be verbal, figurative, three-dimensional and of other elements or a combination thereof.

 

Following documents are necessary for filing a trademark application in Russia:

1.indication of the full name and legal address of the Applicant;

2.quality image of a mark (except for marks in plain block letters);

3.classes according to ICGS and the list of goods or services in these classes (multiple class trademark application is possible).

4. power of attorney, simply signed by the Applicant. No legalization is required.

 

Before filing the application we recommend to conduct a preliminary search throughout the base of registered trademarks of the Russian Federation, including the international registration with indication of Russia and throughout the base of pending applications because we have substantive examination in Russia.

 

Our attorney fee for conducting preliminary search is 220 EURO (word trademark, 1 to 5 classes). Please see the detailed information about costs in a price list bellow.

 

Please note that the costs for filing  an application in one class and for the word trademark registration  and granting a certificate are the following:

480 EURO of our fees, plus approximately  360 EURO official fees.

 

Kindly note that the indicated amounts do not cover any costs connected with possible responses to examination requests, claiming conventional or exhibition priorities, responses to provisional refuses or  prosecution costs due to official actions, refusals or opposition.

 

Time period between filing an application and registration is approximately 8-10 months. After each step of examination we will forward you the corresponding decision from the RUPTO.

Starting from March 2019 there appeared an opportunity to speed up the trademark registration process in RUPTO (within 3-4 months). Please, contact us for further information.

A trademark certificate is valid for 10 years from the filing date and can be prolonged without limitation.
