International Forum Fest “Intellectual Property for Future”
In April 2019, the International Forum Fest “Intellectual Property for Future” / # IPFORFUTURE / # IPFF was first held at the Center for Import Substitution and Localization of St.Petersburg (LENEXPO). This year the event was coincided with the annual celebration of International Intellectual Property Day, which is celebrated around the world on April 26th.
The Forum was organized by the Patent-Legal Firm NEVA-PATENT, Intellectual Property Development Foundation, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University with the support of St. Petersburg Government.
For six days representatives of state authorities, business, science, education, innovation infrastructure, public and professional organizations in the field of intellectual property from 5 countries and 19 regions of the Russian Federation shared knowledge, experience and best practices in creation, identification, management, commercialization and legal protection of intellectual property. More than 70 speakers made the presentations within 21 thematic sections at the main venue of the Forum in LENEXPO, as well as at satellite events at partners’ sites – Unified Entrepreneurship Center of St. Petersburg, Vodokanal of St. Petersburg, St. Petersburg State University of Economics.
The most challenging topics of the Forum were the following ones: issues of commercialization and valuation of intellectual property in science, education, industry and business, patenting of new technical solutions in Russia and abroad, legal protection of intellectual property in information technologies (IP in IT), judicial protection of exclusive rights.
Presentations of speakers from the USA, Canada, Germany and Jordan, as well as of Russian specialists in international patenting (as a part of the “International professional cooperation – image of the future” working session, organized by Russian Export Center) were very relevant for Russian companies planning to export their products abroad.
During the event an exhibition area was also organized where one could get acquainted with examples of successful commercialization of intellectual property projects, including implemented scientific and technical developments, protected by patents of the Russian Federation and foreign countries.
The International Forum Fest “Intellectual Property for Future” has become an important event for the business life of St. Petersburg, promoting interprofessional, international and interregional cooperation in the sphere of intellectual property, exchange of best practices, success stories, and more globally-innovative development of science, education, production sector, business, creative and inventive activity of the Northwest region and Russia as a whole.
The Forum participants acknowledged the professionalism of the speakers, high level of the presentations, relevance of the topics and showed interest in conducting thematic events under the auspices of the Forum in the regions of the Russian Federation aimed at international, interregional cooperation and intellectual property knowledge popularization.
